If you are able to catch bass no matter where you are fishing, you might want to consider entering a bass tournament. These fishing contests are held all over the United States and you can compete for great cash prizes and sometimes the winner receives a brand new boat!
There are many different clubs or associations that you can join. You have probably watched some bass fishing tournaments like FLW Outdoors on television. That one features a professional bass fisherman with an amateur one. Of course, if they place in the money, the pro gets the lions share. So what, just think of the memories you’ll have if it’s you with a pro! There are other tournaments as well that you can see on television like the ESPN Bassmasters.
Let’s take a look at U.S.A. BASSIN which is on the National Tournament Trail. It currently has divisions in 10 states and they are: Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Tennessee. All you have to do is join and then pay any entry fees for each tournament. To be eligible to participate in the Classic Tournament, which is the most important one, you must amass a total of 250 points across all divisions. If you manage to qualify, then you have to pay an entry fee (usually over $100.00) which will give you and your partner a chance to win the top prize of a new boat, motor and trailer. There can be hundreds of teams entered, so it would be really tough to end up in first place or even in the money. Of course you would be meeting all kinds of other bass fisherman and that could result in brand new fishing opportunities for you, not to mention new friendships.
There are these types of bass tournaments held all over the place and it should be fairly easy for you to become involved. The Fishers of Men has divisions in 28 different states across the Eastern and Central United States to mention another one. Go online or subscribe to any one of the bass fishing magazines for more information. Just figure out which one would be the right choice for you depending on your location and the amount of free time you would have to fish and join. Who knows, maybe your fishing partner will be your own wife and someday you’ll win a bass tournament!
